The town has a well-established feel with beautiful shops, hotels and restaurants. Rich in adventure, nature and recreational opportunities in summer, rustic and covered in snow during the winter, Maria Alm promises its guests a truly unforgettable vacation.

Hintermoos lies between the peaks of the Sterinernes Meer and the Grass Mountains of Dienten. The Hundstein is 2.117 meters high and therefore the highest Grass Mountain in Europe.

Maria Alm is only 70 mins drive from Salzburg airport. You can fly directly to Salzburg from London, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Coventry, Doncaster, Sheffield, Dublin, East Midlands, Liverpool, and Manchester.

The Hochkönig Ski area welcomes you to enjoy our Winter Kingdom

Hochkönig means "High King" and this is the name of the 3000 m peak that dominates our region. The "High King Mountain" looks down on the alpine villages of Maria Alm, Hinterthal, Dienten and Mühlbach creating the huge 150 km Hochkönig ski area.

Still little known by the British and American markets the Hochkönig ski area boasts some of the best skiing in Austria with 36 ski lifts and an amazing 37 mountain restaurants.

Summer – a truly dual season resort!

The Hochkönig region has plenty to offer the summer visitor as the entire region is transformed into a paradise of greenery and flowers. Besides all the spa facilities and eighteen hole golf course, there is tennis, mountaneering, hiking, bike tours, fishing, sailing, hang-gliding and para-gliding on offer. In summer, the Hochkönig is a veritable El Dorado for hiking and climbing fans. 530 km of hiking trails, with all levels of difficulty represented, serve as your gateway to the fantastic area, which surrounds our mighty mountain massif.

The Hochkönig majestically dominates the superb and challenging biking paradise, which flanks the Hochkönig. The traditional, friendly Alpine villages of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach am Hochkönig, nestled in the heart of the Salzburger Land, serve as a breathtaking back drop both for bikers in search of athletic challenges, as well as those with a far more casual approach.

Spas – relaxation and fun for all the family

Hotel Haller has a first class spa, why not indulge in the many beauty treatments on offer or relax with a soothing massage, the Hotel is also known for it’s range of sauna and bath treatments:

  • Pinzgauer sauna (approx. 90°C) The oldest and presumably also best known of all saunas is the classic one which was passed on by the Finns and is approx. 90°C and with low humidity. The Alpine wellness water pourings are carried out using spruce and high mountain wood fragrances and natural essences.
  • Organic herb sauna (50°C) At a temperature of about 55°C, water pourings with different herb fragrances develop their stimulating effect in the inhalation sauna. This type of sauna is particularly appreciated for its pleasant temperature.
  • Almer stone bath (45 - 55°C) The best from the Steinernes Meer (stone sea) mountains: this type of sauna has proven itself on the basis of mere radiant heat. The stone bath is perfect for detoxing and purification. Water pourings for the whole body also revive circulation.
  • Sole steam bath (45 -55°C) Atomised sea salts as well as ethereal eucalyptus and mint extracts purify and care for the respiratory tract at a temperature of 45-55°C. The special sole and steam technique combined with the radiant heat in the chamber create a climate that is equivalent to a trip to the seaside.

Golf - 18 Holes, Par 71 Golf Course

Urslautal Golf Course - This 18-hole course (Par 71) was created in 1993, presenting golfers with all kinds of sporting challenges accompanied by compelling scenery. You will play against the imposing mountain backdrop of the Steinernes Meer and in the midst of fragrant meadows and biotopes in bloom.

A course for those who appreciate the art of golf, and for strategists, but also one that gives weaker golfers a fair chance.
